30
Today marks 30 years since the Berlin Wall was torn down by ordinary people. Do you remember it?The date is seared in my mind. It was the beginning of the end of Communism in that area of the world. (Though it seems to have just moved elsewhere.)
There seems to be more than a tad of irony that Ronald Reagan urged Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall" and now the United States is seeking to build its own.
Yes, I remember it well. The end of Communism, and now these crazy people want to bring it and/or socialism to America. How foolish can they be? People just don't learn from history because true history is no longer being taught in our schools. So we are doomed to repeat history. Praying that people will wake up before it is too late.
Time is flying. Seems not long ago, I still can see clear young man broke the wall. Even more perestroika in Soviet Union, I still able to sing Wind of Change :)
you asked a question on my blog about the butterfly homes: their homes are butterfly "cages" designed just for them. if you google it, you will see it is a really popular hobby these days. there are many shapes and sizes to choose from, some even come with butterfly eggs!!
I remember the fall of the Berlin Wall. Few fragments of the wall remained in Berlin, memorial sites for the victims of the regime. I saw parts of the wall in 2017. Blessed week.
Well, speaking about all Eastern Europe I would move the beginnings 9 years back, to 1980 - that was the beginning of the fall though perhaps not in East Germany. But it worked like a snow ball - first going down slowly and then (around 1988-89) getting on much speed. In Poland the important date was June 4th 1989...

ReplyDeleteYes. Though the Berlin Wall kept people in and the US wall is to keep people out. But it is a strange thing, isn't it?
DeleteThey were/are both used for political purposes to stem the free movement of people.
DeleteI was where the wall was. It didn't even exist before, it is so clean. There were only memories left.
ReplyDeleteLet us pray for peace.
