Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
and his glory will be seen upon you.
And nations shall come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your rising.
Light and darkness - the eternal two forces that rule the world. God is the light, the glory and the brightness. Follow Him, and you'll get to shine among all the others.
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful, Duta!
DeleteIndeed. I love the boom of Isaiah, it is like poetry.
ReplyDeleteBoom!
Delete;-)
I think you meant book, but I didn't realize it at first. I read boom as a very poetic way to say you like the power in Isaiah. But...uh... is it a typo? Say no. ;-)
A good passage.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William.
DeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you, Victor. God bless you too.
DeleteOh, I love this passage!! So powerful. I also love that in our little church we sing "Arise Your Light is come" as the accolyte brings in the "light of Christ" at the start of the service and lights the candles. It is a very moving moment for me as we welcome the Light of Christ into our midst, and then at the close of the service they put out the light on the candle, but we are to be Light of Christ going out into the world. After many years away from liturgical churches, I am finding these special moments in our service very meaningful and comforting. Your verse today exemplifies this.
ReplyDeleteMoments like that and their symbolism mean alot to me too. I feel like I am new to that comfort of tradition. I didn't used to notice it, I think.
DeleteI was thinking of your church when I posted this. As far as I can tell from the news, they haven't quite decided anything yet, but may split. Is that correct? I was in a congregation once that split and God gave the leadership the story of Gideon as an encouragement. He did see his group shrink, but they were more powerful small!
I believe the final vote will be taken sometime today or tonight. Praying hard. May God be honored and exalted, and may His Word of truth abide. I am not afraid of "smaller"...I believe in the verse that says, "come out from among them and be separate", and if that is what is needed, that is what should be done. Praying hard for this. Thank you.
DeleteGod bless you, Pamela, and your congregation, no matter how this turns out.
DeleteThe light of the world...
ReplyDeleteAmen to that! He is.
DeleteThere are so many wonderful passages in Isaiah! This one is powerful and I think Isaiah wrote in in a loud tone of voice, if you know what I mean. This passage is not meant to be whispered.
ReplyDeleteHe is the Light. Darkness doesn't have a chance when He is shining brightly.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite scriptures, so much hope , thanks for sharing.
