Behold, 
the former things have come to pass,
and new things I now declare;
before they spring forth
I tell you of them.

    the first from the left - Gheorghe Lazar, professor who founded an Academy in Bucharest, in 1818.
    The second statue: Spiru Haret - professor at the University of Bucharest and Minister of Education, retired in 1910.
