Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress;
instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle;
and it shall make a name for the Lord,
an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
Isaiah 55:13
Sometimes we expect one thing, but get another.
Isaiah is one of my favorite books in the Bible. I read it more than any other I think. This whole chapter is amazing.
ReplyDeleteA conforting post!
ReplyDeleteIt does seem to be that way doesn't it. Sometimes it's actually for the better in many cases.
ReplyDeleteAmen
ReplyDeleteThis is the second quote from Isiah today. One cannot get enough. Thank you.
ReplyDelete"Sometimes we expect one thing, but get another" - " far exceedingly above all which we ask or think", Ephesians 3: 20.

DeleteA reminder that God is in control and his way is not ours! And - His way is the best way.
ReplyDeleteMust keep our expectations in check. :)
ReplyDeleteHmm...this seems to suggest otherwise! 😂
DeleteWe don't always appreciate His gifts as gifts, but in the end we will get our perspective all straightened out.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this good reminder!
Amen!! Praise God! His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts!! He is good and His lovingkindness endures forever!💛

And often the unexpected is closer to what we need than the things we want.
ReplyDeleteSo true.
DeleteAll we can do is have faith.
ReplyDeleteGod's ways are not our ways, but HE does answer our prayers... but in His own way and time... and most often a surprise!
ReplyDeleteAnything you ask in my I will do. Jesus' words. Be careful of what you ask for, you may just get it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings from Geoff in Johannesburg South Africa.

A positive take on myrtle! Thanks, Sandi. I've tried to like my first name, but i just haven't gotten there yet. All the best to you!
ReplyDeleteI like Myrtle!
DeleteWe are often surprised by what happens when it's not what we expect. But God is never surprised. I want to learn to accept whatever He designs as best for me. I want what I want way too often. I'm working on it!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Amen!
ReplyDeleteTake care, enjoy your day!
Have a great new week!
