What do you mean, Mom?
You're in love with him, so what's the problem?
They say I should date more to find the one.
Vi, get married. Raise a family, with him.
Maybe I'm supposed to roam the Earth.
You're not a dinosaur. What do you mean 'roam the Earth'?
I'm not supposed to marry the first one. I need to experience life.
Can't you experience life with him?
Don't point, Mom. He's watching.
I don't care. I want him to marry you.
But, Mom, what if he tries to tell me what to do?
What's he going to tell you to do, Vi?
I don't know. Maybe to quit my job or stay home or something.
Ok. So? What if you tell him what to do?
I will!
So this only works one way?
Of course not. But they say I'm supposed to live a little. Date more.
They're lying to you, Vi. Don't date more. Don't do that. Please.
Why not?
It's not supposed to be that way. Just pick one. Forsake all others.
Why?
You're not really supposed to have more than one.
What.
It's not right. You know what I mean. I don't want you to know what I mean.
I don't know what you mean.
He'll protect you.
I'll protect myself.
Vi, it's natural for a man to protect a woman. They want to do that.
No, they want to control us. We have to tear down the patriarchy!
That's nonsense.
You're old-fashioned.
Look at our world, honey. Really look. Please trust me.
Rather a curious spin off for a lovely flower.
ReplyDeleteSo much deception in our world about masculinity and femininity and monogamy.
ReplyDeleteWow, thank you Sandi, this spoke to me today and even similar to a conversation I had on the topic. Its so refreshing to hear this conversation about staying faithful to the `one` God had chosen, indeed may the younger generation hear this message and may God protect all those lovely Violets with the `one` specaial husband he chose for them.๐

DeleteGreat conversation Sandi.
ReplyDeleteIf you like KFC do NOT marry a vegetarian.

That is truly wise, Victor. ๐

DeleteI dated my husband when we were in high school. He was a senior, I was a sophomore. He told me he had enlisted in the Navy. I decided I didn't want to be "tied down" my junior year of high school. Four years later, my mother said to me, "Guess whose out of the Navy." He called me later that summer and we went out. Two years later, we got married. We will celebrate 53 years of marriage this November. God knew best.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to hear a wonderful story.
DeleteWise words.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty little flower!
ReplyDeleteI'll take old fashioned...
It's best.
DeleteI think you are courageous writing something like this in our day and age. But truth has never been popular.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharon.
DeleteHi Sandi, back again to thank you for your interest in my recent post on Skyline Drive. You asked about Winston Churchill and where did he build his walls. This was done on his own property in England. There is a very interesting article written by a business man, and if you would like to know more you can find it here: http://navilogue.com/blog/2013/10/24/professional-therapy-build-a-wall

ReplyDeleteHugs and greetings.
Sometimes you pick your rose, and there are many thorns that prick you along the way. But praying and hoping and loving brings unexpected goodness. Remaining in faith is a great thing. : )

For some reason, when I click on the Lee Statue post, the comment form doesn't open. Hope this works. First, thanks for good wishes on my TS Nicholas post. Much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAs for trying to rewrite history is mind boggling. Our country has fallen!
Very interesting, Sandi. Certainly a generational divide.
ReplyDelete50 years and counting for us. He’s still the head of the house, my protector, my love, and he loves the Lord. What more could I want. I’ve been blessed.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful colour violet, and a very interesting read.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
All the best Jan
Well, sometimes we don't get it right the first time. Unfortunately my first marriage turned out to be a disaster. But then I met Terry, and he has been the best thing that happened to me in my life. The irony is that if I hadn't married my first husband, I never would have met Terry. As for being unfaithful, I'd die first. I believe that I was meant to be with Terry, and I am so grateful for this blessing! Have a happy weekend, Sandi!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Louise!
