Her friend was talkative and friendly to strangers.
"How do you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Talk."
She slinked in the shadows, searching for survivors.
She found them one by one, in hovels, holes in the ground,
and on youtube. They were like her
and she prayed for them without making a sound.
Her friend called into the night, "Hello, you over there!"
And people turned.
She made a big impact in the world. Lives were changed.
People were seen. Stories were told. She knew others.
"How do you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Speak."
Admittedly I rarely speak to strangers. And some days I rarely speak at all.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling!

DeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome
DeleteHi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteI have always loved talking to strangers, including the homeless and prisoners. It is only through talking to people that you have understanding of them.
That is a gift.
DeleteWords change the world.
ReplyDeleteI hope other things do too or I will not change the world.
DeleteI love talking to others. When we do we are no longer strangers we can become friends. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAh...an extrovert...(backs away slowly) 😄
DeleteSo many lonely people to reach out to.
ReplyDeleteYes.
DeletePowerful thought.
In high school I was an extrovert, talking with so many people, but as I get older, I'm more guarded with who I communicate with. But once there is some trust there, I can go on and on. I know people who talk and don't listen in between, and it's good to listen as well. : )

Bless you, Sheri.
DeleteA good post.
ReplyDeleteA smile and a good morning/afternoon can make a huge difference to someone.
In these times of Covid many are still feeling isolated, it is important to reach out. We have a local community phone group and that makes a difference to those living alone.
All the best Jan
"a local community phone group"
DeleteWhat a good idea!

Amazing post
ReplyDeleteI am not so estroverse, I have to learn to talk more to the people. Great post.
ReplyDeletei LOVE this, i am very friendly, i talk to everyone!! i really enjoy long lines so i can chat up with everyone!!
ReplyDeleteWonderfully worded Sandi.
ReplyDeletethat would be me, I can't talk to strangers, dh is the opposite
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic picture!
ReplyDeleteThe world needs people like that: people to speak to others, to search for survivors, to pray for them, to make a difference in the world.
So many need someone to just speak to them. Even a "hello" or a smile. Used to be when walking, people would greet strangers with a smile or a word. Now too many heads are stuck in their phones and many are afraid. It's terribly sad.
ReplyDeleteWith courage, and empathy. We need more people like this. The world over.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Sandy!
ReplyDeletethat was soul touching precious Sandi !
ReplyDeleteit makes me think when i find people who find it difficult to talk to others like them and most of them waste time in waiting if other talk to them first or if others found them foolish and so on...
i was hardly like this even in times when i felt resentment towards people i still talked to the fearlessly when i have to be with them anyway .for me they are creation of Creator whom i love so much and it makes me love all he made as far as is "fear of strangers" i think e knows i rely on him completely and for this he will take care of me (my opinion)
dear friend Sandi thank you for such nice recommendation i just found the site of Andrew Huberman and i think i am goanna learn lot .
