Eve was in the garden under the leafiest tree.
She trusted it to shelter her, not me. The serpent spoke.
His lie was smooth and easy to believe.
Follow me, Eve. I will show you the way to love.
But he taught her all the things that were a lie.
Man is your enemy, follow me. Love self, serve me.
Turn from good and purity. Oh, Eve, I will give you everything.
Power, Eve. You've never had that before.
Always following and serving, but serve me instead and it will all be different.
Tear down your world, the one the Creator made for you.
Remake it. Or destroy it.
I don't care which, just as long as it is not what it was meant to be.
Now wait here, for me. I won't leave you alone.
But he did. The serpent left her alone.
If I was naked in the garden and met a talking snake I'd be scared in case he bit my backside; not engage in a conversation with him.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Probably why he talked to her instead.
DeleteAh Sandi what was Eve thinking? Can you not hear the Lord's pain in His words "What have you done?" "If only" crosses my mind; so much sorrow could have been avoided. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHow POWERFUL, this may be my favorite post from you ever!!
ReplyDeleteCreative.
ReplyDeleteEve succumbed to temptation and unfortunately many of us do as well. I am thankful for a merciful and forgiving God who still redeems me, even after my worst falls.
ReplyDeleteSatan is the prince of lies and does it well!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Ginny - this is a powerful post! Such a liar - and he continues to lie.

ReplyDeleteLies. Lies. Lies. Powerful entry Sandi.
And the deception is as strong today as then...

ReplyDeleteHi Sandi,
ReplyDeletewe can learn so much from Eve's experience in the garden, about who to trust in and who not to trust in.
