My Grandma played the banjo, but not like this.
During the long winter months when she and Grandpa escaped snowy Michigan for Texas and then Florida, I kept her banjo safe for her. It had a special place on my dresser. I never learned to play, but in my dreams both Grandma and I sound like this.
They make it look so easy. Thanx Sandi.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Hi Sandi, you have asked me about China, gosh it was a long time ago 1996/7. We flew to Hong Kong, went over to mainland China for a few days and then spent a week in Phuket. Phuket we loved, but we found China and Hong Kong just too many people, I am not at all fond of crowds. The food though was. amazing. Have good week, Diane
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight to hear. Amazing talent.
ReplyDeleteYour grandma would have loved this set. And it woke me up for sure.

ReplyDeletesounds like your Grandma would have been a super awesome lady. we met a couple who played a banjo & a fiddle (i think??). always joked with my hubby that we should learn something to play on our travels. i did the recorder when i was in elementary school and some chopsticks in later years (Jolly Ole' St. Nicholas as well). u take care this week. Be Well! ( ;
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and wonderful memories too! I was born and raised in Michigan! My Minnesota winters now are usually a bit worse!
ReplyDeleteWhere in Michigan? (Points to thumb)
DeleteI'm so glad you kept her banjo. I love a good banjo player -- I don't know how they go so fast and are great to dance to.
ReplyDeleteA rare instrument to hear.
ReplyDeleteI love the Banjo. My nephew plays it well, but not as well as she does.
ReplyDeleteI've lived in Michigan all my life, about 20 minutes from Lake Michigan. :)
Toe tapping music for sure. Love that she's barefoot! :)

ReplyDeleteI love hearing the banjo! I don't think I'd have the coordination for it at all!

ReplyDeleteOh, I love this. We had a music teacher work in our home when I was young and he played all instruments, then my brother and his son used to duel guitars years later. This brings back a flood of good memories...never mind being excellent in skill and entertainment. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove some good banjo music, they sure are talented! Enjoyed the wonderful memory you shared of your grandmother!
