Jesus was the Passover Lamb.
He died during Passover and was resurrected 3 days later.
At the close of Passover the Jews begin to count the Omer which is 50 days.
Do you know what that leads up to?
The 50th day after Passover is Shavuot, a biblical observance that marks
the harvest and the revelation of the Torah to Moses on Mount Sinai.
Did you know Pentecost occurs on Shavuot?
That's what Jesus' disciples were gathered for in the
upper room when the Holy Spirit was given to them.
The word pentecost means 50th.
Sometimes in our Christian churches we kick the Jews out. But we are
grafted into the Vine. God has not forgotten the Jews or replaced them with us.
Happy Pentecost, Everyone, and a joyous Shavuot!
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.
And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind,
and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Acts 2:1-2 ESV
In the TLV version, it reads:
When the day of Shavuot had come, they were all together in one place.
Suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind,
and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
I agree, we need to pay better attention to the Jewish calendar and the events surrounding their Holy Days that coincide with ours. Yes, Jesus IS our Passover Lamb. I wish the Jewish folks could see that as well. They totally missed the connection...but one day they will see Him and know Him...and in that day every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! Amen...
ReplyDeleteIf God can forget the Jews He can forget us, too. There is always a remnant of both Jews and True Believers.
ReplyDeleteBut Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me.”
DeleteCan a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.
Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.
Isaiah 49:14-16
We just finished doing a class on the Jewish feasts at our church. It was so interesting to find how the Christian calendar and the feasts lined up!
ReplyDeleteA kind of exciting time for us Christians. I am looking forward to our Pentecost Sermon tomorrow
ReplyDelete...too many conservative Christians today don't seem to get the message!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... Well, I consider myself a conservative Christian, so I don't know quite how to take that. Ha ha! Are you a Believer, Tom?
Deletei did not know that jewish people were kicked out of christian churches. how unchristian. have a nice week sandi!!
ReplyDeleteI think so too. In early times the Christians were kicked out of the synagogues. But then there was a long period of anti-semitism where the Church really separated from the Jewish people, the traditions and holidays, and possibly even our reason for meeting on Sundays instead of the biblical sabbath of Saturday, though some churches still meet on Saturdays. It's been a long road, but Jew and Gentile will worship together again one day.
DeleteChristianity is rooted from the Jewish Faith.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
True.
DeleteI did not. Quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteBoa tarde minha querida amiga. Obrigado pela excelente matéria.
ReplyDeleteObrigado!
DeleteEllen's comment is right on point. Our God is a covenant keeper. He made a covenant with Israel, and He will never cease to honor it. The Church must not forget this. "I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:3 ESV
ReplyDeleteAmen.

DeleteShavuot was a term I had heard before but wasn't overly familiar with.
ReplyDeleteChag Shavuot Sameach, Sandi!! Thank you for your sharing and opening up the hearts of readers to love and understand that we are not `us` and `them` but that we are all God`s Children. It`s exciting that more and more of the church are starting to understand about the LORD`s Feasts which are His Appointed Days. Blessings and Love and may the Holy Spirit fall afresh on all the Body of Messiah as we learn to worship Him in Spirit and in TRUTH!!❤️
ReplyDeleteAmen
DeleteI remember growing up and attending catechism
ReplyDeleteevery Friday afternoon at 4:15 after school...And
our parish priest, Father Pedrick..always reminded
us that the Roman Catholic Church was the truest
church and faith on earth...
As l got older l thought and said to myself...'Hang~on,
Jesus was a Jew, he was'nt a catholic'..
Of course since then the many religious faiths, were all
made by man..each faith believing in God..but all different
through mans interference due to certain rules and certain
beliefs..!
Oh! Sandi re your comment on Victors post...Mia Mama
did eventually pass over, aged 90..can't remember which
one of us did it..but..we thought we'd get her off the shelf
and do the honorable thing...
Now! Where did l put that shovel..No! No! The box of
matches...! :O).
I watch a You Tube channel called One For Israel that has many testimonies of Jewish people. I've heard so many of them say they thought Jesus was Catholic. Amazing.
DeleteGlad you did the right thing with Mama Mia! 😂
Thank you for sharing this Sandi.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Hi Sandi, my mother and both her parents were Jewish, so that actually made me Jewish at birth. My mother married a Christian, our dad, who actually prayed for both me and my sister at times when we were ill - and we were healed. I think I have shared this before, but my mother's father had a row of terraced houses that he let jobless people live in for free until they got work, and it was only then that he charged them rent. All people can be kind people regardless of so called 'religion'., but there is only one way back to God - and that is through Jesus.
ReplyDeleteBrenda,
DeleteYes, you did tell me that, but it is good to hear it again. 💙 Thanks!
