1 Peter 3:9
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
Matthew 5:43-44
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you...
I read today that a new member of Congress, Ilhan Omar,
has been accused of making anti-Semitic statements.
I read them, they were pretty awful. It hurts my heart
to think she feels comfortable saying that.
Some things to pray for Ilhan Omar:
Peace
Kindness from an unexpected place
Good dreams
That she would know the Lord loves her
Why do this?
Why not ignore her or say something offensive as well?
Because those things would be heavy in my heart. Who wants to feel that way? Besides, I do want her to know the Lord loves her. He also loves Israel.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart from this clear and wonderful post! It heals my heart to know you stand in the light on this topic. I can't even express it but will remember you in my prayers thank you very much
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cloudia. God bless you.
DeleteAbsolutely!!!
ReplyDeleteThe prayer you suggested is definitely appropriate.
ReplyDeleteThese verses are so appropriate at this time in my life. And I am still goofy by the way, just not woozy. LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, and amen.
ReplyDeleteI have not yet heard about that.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny that you said that about the Pink rocks, cause I told my son not to eat them cause they aren't candy! And sometimes I pass by and have to remind myself haha
ReplyDeleteThese verses by Matthew and Peter really got to me, almost with a tear, and you are so very good to share them, Sandi. I wish there were more people like you in the world loving and not hating. And I did need to hear this today.

Thank you for your very positive and spiritual approach to handling this situation with the congresswoman. I will pray for her, and I thank you for suggesting it. Sometimes we just get so angry and frustrated with the current political situation that we forget to pray for those that frustrate us. I will try to remember to be more diligent to do that from now on. Thank you. That is the right approach.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post. I feel sad that the congresswoman you have is not only comfortable saying those things but that she actually feels that way. It's sad indeed. I hope you have a great week and thanks for this post. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Sandi. You've made a very good point.
ReplyDeleteGod does not want anyone to perish, not Ms. Omar nor the people who put her in office. Will keep them in my prayers.
We should not repay evil with evil, for that makes us no better than them. Taking the high ground is always the best way.
ReplyDeleteI heard about this too and was quite irritated with her. I needed to read your post - good reminder!
ReplyDeleteThe fact is consumed by what he said.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi,
ReplyDeletethis is the on going spiritual warfare with the 'Ishmael and Isaac' thing. God wants all to be saved and I pray that this lady will be brought to salvation through Jesus soon. God knows how to do this and no matter what any religion says, 'No man can come to God except through Jesus'. I believe she has apologized for it, but it is what is in a person's thoughts and heart that matters, not what they say.
thank you, Brenda
DeleteYes, praying for her is the right thing to do.
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Sandi!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post, thank you so much that I could read it ...
Hugs and greetings.
Sandi: Thank you for the reminder that we are to pray for those who persecute us. I will add her name to my prayer list.
ReplyDeleteEach heart with narrow way of thinking needs prays most
ReplyDeleteSandi, I love your heart...and I love that you shared these particular verses because, well, it was just something that helps my heart heal. And, yes, we do need to pray for this woman. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog Sandi, it means the world, I wonder at times if kindness as gone to the wayside so kind comments such as yours are refreshing and a blessing.
ReplyDeleteIt's good you posted on this. We lift her up to the Lord, as well as the state of this country. There are some evil and demonic things going about. Just shocking and horrible. I pray God will minister to those doing evil things in their dreams in a very clear way.
You are so right, Sandi. Praying is what should be done for this woman. Personally, I find it very hard. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your uplifting posts. Blessings and hugs.
Yes!!!
