I believed parts of it, the easy parts, the parts I liked. So I should probably say I didn't believe it. Not really. Not until I met Jesus. Then it was like I could see and had not even known I'd been blind. The words came alive to me.
It may seem backwards. Don't you read it and then believe? Not me. Experience came first. I was surprised at how my perception changed. What once seemed true was a lie and what once seemed out of date and ancient became timely, relevant, and true. I can't explain it. I can only tell you what happened to me.
Do you believe? If so, why? If not, you're welcome here anyway!
Our perception changes. But Wisdom speaks through everything if we love her. God is too big for us to confine in some diagram of words and concepts, dear Sandi <3

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. -Isaiah 55:8
Yes I believe the bible. Now I may not agree with parts of it, (just a few) but I do TRUST that one day, it will all make perfect sense to me. Meanwhile I keep reading and studying it.
ReplyDeleteIt is not like any other book. Reading it transforms us.
DeleteYes I do believe! You're right - the Bible is different from any other book, you find new things in it all the time, even if you've read that passage many times before.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much hope and love and help here for life...just reading from Proverbs 3 tonight, especially verses 5-6...."Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Can't find better guidance than that...God's Word...Our manual for Life and Eternity!
ReplyDeleteI believe that the Bible is alive and will always tell us new things =)
