For You

Jesus is real.

You may think He is not for you.

But He is.

He is for you and not against you.

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.

Psalm 116:5-7

The Lord is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of compassion.
The Lord protects the unwary;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return to your rest, my soul,
for the Lord has been good to you.

National Day of Prayer

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Sid Roth: Coronavirus

This is a video by Sid Roth. He is talking about prayer and the Coronavirus. It is about 30 minutes long, but well worth the time. It is both sobering and encouraging.

There is a National Day of Prayer tomorrow,
March 15th, here in the USA.

God is...

God is for you, not against you.

Friday, March 13, 2020

but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

Then to the Gentiles Also...

When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, "Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life."

Communists in America

I posted this about two years ago. The man speaking in the clip below is Yuri Bezmenov, a former KGB spy who defected to the West during the Cold War. He gave a series of talks at that time about Communism coming to America and other Western countries. He also wrote several books. It seems his message was not widely accepted, however.

But in today's world what he says sounds ripped from the headlines,
doesn't it? He actually uses the term

Social Justice Warriors.

The presentation referenced here is available on You Tube. It is engrossing and well worth the listen. I've posted just the last 4 minutes.
To me, it's the key to everything.

Yuri Bezmenov.

If you've heard this name before you could be a spy story enthusiast, old enough to remember the Cold War, or left the KGB in disgust many years ago. I am two of those things, but I won't tell you which two!

In a series of videos, footage from a presentation in 1983 on Canadian television, Yuri Bezmenov talks about ideological subversion, specifically, how to do it. It's a little eerie, I have to warn you. If you are interested, he is all over the Internet and you can find the whole presentation everywhere.

But this...

This is my favorite part. Just when you suspect all hope is lost. Just when you want to run and hide, he says this... Oh, my God.

In case you can't hear the video, this is what he said:

Yuri Bezmenov on How to Prevent Ideological Subversion

...that takes one step, one very important thing to do. You don't have to expel all the KGB agents from Washington DC. The most difficult and at the same time the simplest answer to the subversion is to start it here and even before, by bringing back the society to religion, something that you cannot touch and eat and put on yourself. But something that rules society and makes it move and preserve it. A Soviet scientist, Shafarevich, who has nothing to do with religion, he is a computer scientist, did a very intensive research the on the history of Socialist countries. He calls Socialist or Communist any country with the centralized economy and the pyramidal style of power structure and he discovered, actually he didn't discover, he just brought to attention of his readers.

That civilizations like Mohenjo-daro in the River Indus area, like Egypt, like Maya, Incas, like Babylonian culture, collapsed and disappeared from the surface of Earth the moment they lost religion. As simple as that. They disintegrated. Nobody remembers about them anymore. Well, just a few.

So, the ideas are moving society and keeping mankind as society of human beings, intelligent, moral agents of God. The facts, the truth, the exact knowledge may not. All the sophisticated technology and computers will not prevent society from disintegrating and eventually dying out. Have you ever met a person who would sacrifice his life, freedom for the truth like that? (writes 2x2=4 on board) This is truth. I never met the person who said, "This is truth and I am ready to... shoot me!" to defend the truth. Right?

But millions sacrifice their life, freedom, comfort, everything for things like God, like Jesus Christ. It's an honor!

Some martyrs in the Soviet concentration camp died and they died in peace unlike those who shouted, "Long live Stalin!" knowing perfectly well that he may not live long.

Something which is not material moves society and helps it to survive, and the other way around, the moment we turn into 2 by 2 is 4 and make it the guiding principle of our life, our existence, we die. Even though this is true (points to 2x2=4) and this we cannot prove (points to God and J.C.) We can only feel and have faith in it.

So the answer to ideological subversion, strangely enough, is very simple. You don't have to shoot people. You don't have to aim missiles and Pershings and cruise missiles at Andropov's headquarters. You simply have to have faith and prevent subversion. In other words, not to be a victim of subversion.

Don't try to be a person who in Judo is trying to smash your enemy and being caught by your hand. Don't strike like that. Strike with power of your spirit and moral superiority. If you don't have that power, it's high time to develop it, and that's the only answer.

The Flower Child and Jesus

This is a video by the documentary filmmaker David Hoffman.
If you get a chance to watch his channel on You Tube, it is full of these gems. He somehow inspired a diverse group of people to talk about their deepest feelings and life-shaping experiences.

This is the story of a young woman talking about her life in the 1960's and 1970's. It was recorded in 1990. She says something interesting that struck me. She says she did not adopt the culture of born-again Christianity because she still enjoyed nature and health foods. I am not quite sure what she meant by that. I know believers who eat healthy and love nature. Maybe things were different when she was talking about this. I really don't remember. Enjoy!

Hope for the Hungry Heart

"Everybody's got a hungry heart," goes a Bruce Springsteen song. In it he tells the story of a man with a hungry heart who has good things in his life but destroys them by running off with his still hungry heart. It is crushing. Horrible. Then the song ends.

What was he hungry for? You know I'm going to say God
because that's what I always say. Purpose, meaning, to be loved undeservedly, unconditional appreciation, understanding.

Yesterday, I saw a photo online of a young model who had the word "misunderstood" tattooed on his face. We all want to be understood, accepted, heard. God loves you. He is what you are looking for. But He may not be what you want Him to be. He may be holy and demanding. He may be loving and kind. He may want something from you, from us, like obedience. He may have stories of His own to tell us. They may not be what we expect to hear.

But He is real. He really calls to you, to us. Do you hear Him?

Trump and Israel

US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unveiled a peace plan today. We have seen this many times. Presidents and others propose peace. People wave flags. We all hope. Right? But do the people who oppose Israel want a deal? Do they want a little more land? It seems what they want is for Israel to not be there.

I believe only God can bring peace because it will require a change of heart, a complete and lasting transformation of all the souls looking at this and thinking one thing to suddenly think and believe and uphold something else entirely.

In 2018, Trump did something no other President could (would) do and that is to move the American embassy to Jerusalem. I found it encouraging and unexpected. I suppose I had grown accustomed to things being impossible. It gave me hope. Maybe this is also not impossible.

What do you think?

Son of David

...“Have mercy on me,
O Lord,
Son of David;
my daughter is
severely oppressed
by a demon.”
But he did not
answer her a word.
And his disciples
came and begged
him, saying,
“Send her away,
for she is crying
out after us.”
He  answered,
“I was sent only
to the lost sheep
of the house of Israel.”
But she came
and knelt before
him, saying,
“Lord, help me.”
And he answered,
“It is not right to
take the children’s
bread and throw it
to the dogs.” She
said, “Yes, Lord,
yet even the dogs
eat the crumbs
that fall from
their masters’ table.”
Then Jesus
answered her,
“O woman,
great is your faith!
Be it done for you
as you desire.” And
her daughter was
healed instantly.

The Blue Sun

The sun was blue. She had never seen it that way before, a bold, bright turquoise ball in the sky. Its rays were like droplets, like moons circling a planet, each another shade and equally brilliant. They were bold too, but small and hushed.

The sky was red, deep and brazen. The leaves of the trees grew up around her and she sought their shade, though there was no heat and no burning.

She climbed the mountain in three steps. The tallest point on the Earth and it fell to 1, 2, 3. It was an easy climb, as if the sky had been brought low enough for them to touch without stretching to make it so. It was within their grasp.

Once at the top, she gazed back down into the surrounding area to her friends. They were astonished, too, at the sight in the sky and asked her to pray to the sun. It was like a beacon of light above them all. But the word 'like' stung her ears and her heart. 'Like' is not enough and she instead called out to the Creator of the sun, the Creator of them all.

Her friends shouted out suggestions of what to ask for: world peace (which is always the first, though few of us are willing to allow it in our own lives), cures, knowledge, and temporary things that satisfy for a moment but leave you hungrier than before.

She was unsure what to ask the Creator. She did not know what to say, but she listened and heard Him. Ask to know me, just me. Call to me. I will hear you even if you do not know the words to say. You will know me. You will hear me. I will tell you all things. I will answer questions you did not know you had. I long to do this, to speak with you who would pray to the sun instead, that I painted, that I constructed. But I am the One who calls you.

Who Are You?

I desire mercy, and not sacrifice. For I came not to call
the righteous, but sinners. from Matthew 9:13

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all and ordered them not to make him known. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:

Behold, my servant whom I have chosen,
my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased.
I will put my Spirit upon him,
and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
He will not quarrel or cry aloud,
nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets;
a bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not quench,
until he brings justice to victory;
and in his name the Gentiles will hope.

Matthew 12:15-21/Isaiah 42

What Does God Want?

Does God want us to be happy?
Sometimes. Probably.
But really God wants us to be holy.

Saturday, January 18, 2020

These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'" Matthew 10:5-7

Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to him, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”
Matthew 11:2-6

What is the presence of God like?
Like fire that doesn't burn.
Like rain when the whole world is dry.

Like light from the sun, except you can't see the sun.
It is behind a cloud, but the light is still shining.
How is it doing that?

Like a smile deep in your heart when you know you were heard, truly heard.

He is not really like anything else.

There you are with questions.

The place is dark. You are dark.

You are sitting in a shadow. Why is life so hopeless? You realize in that moment that you are wrong. You are delighted, relieved, overjoyed (or even just regular joy at that point), that life is not as you thought. It is better. It is good. He is there, with you, real. Jesus is real.

Enough. Filled. Full.

Have you ever been full? Have you ever had enough? He loves you and He wants you to know.

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13
