Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God.Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7
Your hair is numbered?
Why would anyone number hair?
Maybe there is a reason for that, but I think the meaning is simply that you matter to God. If a small detail like hair matters, certainly the events of your day are important to Him as well. Your feelings, worries and concerns, all of your tomorrows. Everything.
This question is for the Americans here, though I suppose it could fit other places too. Since President Trump was elected we have heard over and over again in the mainstream news that it was all because of Russia. Really, Russia? I remember the Cold War, the end of it anyway, and I remember when the Soviet Union collapsed. I just don't see them as the boogie man anymore. All of this seemed very far-fetched.
I know Americans and I know people who were dissatisfied with our government in 2016. On election night I expected Trump to win. That is until someone close to me said they thought Hillary would win. So I was on the edge of my seat...and the states started to flip for Trump. I knew why. It wasn't just Hillary. It was everything.
Today the report is finally out and, though we knew this days ago, it says Trump did not collude with Russia. Americans decided the election themselves.
But our media is still screaming. Maybe they really thought it was Russia. Now they realize it was us.
The high priest then questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching.
Jesus answered him,
“I have spoken openly to the world. I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret. Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them; they know what I said.”
Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”
“Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.
He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’
He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”
They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them,
“I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
