    God desires mercy, love, obedience, not offerings. Sacrifice is useless without the above mentioned human attitude.

    In response to your question in yesterday's post, the arch is the War Memorial itself, officially dedicated by King George VI in 1939 to commemorate the dead of the First World War... just a few months before the beginning of the Second.
