Somehow Hard to Accept

He brought me out into a spacious place;

he rescued me because he delighted in me.

2 Samuel 22:20

  1. Hi Sandy, it’s so strange to me to see that, looking back on my life, God would even want to save me because I have hated or been mad enough to cut people off in my past for much less damage than the hurt I must have caused the Lord. And why did He save me but yet there are other people who lived much better (at least from what I can see) lives than me who never surrender to Jesus…I know of family members who live almost perfect (none are perfect, I know) lives, very loving and self sacrificing, generous, good parents, but are atheists and tell me they will never believe in Jesus…how is it I was chosen to be saved and these very good people will die rejecting Jesus? It is a mystery to me….perhaps subject of my next blog post.

    1. I was just listening to an interview with Sam Harris (athiest/philosopher). He said, and I looked this up to get it right, that there are people who "are not as well edcuated. They haven't had the same opportunites. They need to be told Jesus is going to solve all their problems after they die." It was so rude it made me laugh. But, dang, I do need Jesus like that. I think I would put need and redemption in the same place. I don't understand how someone looks at our world and doesn't see these things, but this guy kind of hit the nail on the head. You too.

  12. This reminds me of my mountain home outside - it's spacious with God's nature all around me. : ) A beautiful verse this morning, Sandi.
