Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!” The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” There was also an inscription over him,
“This is the King of the Jews.”
Luke 23:32-38
Thank you Jesus for dying for us on the cross!
ReplyDeleteDear Sandi!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you and all your family!
"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." One of Jesus' most profound statements ever...
ReplyDeleteMeaningful verse for Easter weekend.
ReplyDeleteA terrible Friday and yet a very good Friday!
ReplyDeleteMy Darling Sandi! Let me congratulate you on the holiday of the resurrection of Jesus Christ! Happy Easter! Christ is risen!
ReplyDeleteThank you, ирина! God bless you.
DeleteDobra, co z serca do serca płynie
ReplyDeleteI dużo pięknej wiosny wokół,
Niechaj w radości czas ten minie,
w miłości, która jak co roku
nadzieję niesie, zieleń, kwiaty
i słońce co wszystko rozjaśni!
Niechaj w tym świętym, pięknym czasie,
nie będzie smutków ani waśni,
niech tylko dobro w nas rozkwita,
jak wiosna, co Wielkanoc wita.
Szczęśliwego, wspaniałego Czasu życzę Ci na te Święta i serdecznie pozdrawiam!
Dziękuję, JoAnno! To jest bardzo piękne. Niech cię Bóg błogosławi.

Good, what flows from heart to heart
And a lot of beautiful spring around,
Let this time pass in joy,
in love, which, like every year
greenery and flowers bring hope
and the sun that will brighten everything!
Let in this holy, beautiful time,
there will be no sorrows or strife,
let only goodness flourish in us,
like spring, which welcomes Easter.
I wish you a happy and wonderful time this Christmas and best regards!
(Google translated it to Christmas!)
Happy Easter Sandi, as born again Christians, celebrate what Easter truly represents. God bless.
ReplyDeleteWere the killers Jews?
ReplyDeleteRomans. His followers were all Jews, Duta. All of the disciples, all Jewish. They did not want Him to die.
DeleteThe Pharisees and Saducees had accused Him of blasphemy. Pilate, the Roman governor, did not want to kill Him for that. He offered to release Him, but they wanted a different criminal released instead. Crucifiction was a Roman practice.
DeleteDuta, I have thought about your question a bit since you asked it here. I have something I want to add to what I said. Jesus knew He was going to die. He told the disciples, but they didn't understand. He died for our sins. He went to the cross willingly for us. So in answer to your question, I have another. Can I say to someone that they killed Jesus, but I did not? No. But if He had not died, and rose again, I would not have a risen savior. Jesus said to the Samaritan woman at the well:
DeleteYou worship what you do not know;
we worship what we know,
for salvation is from the Jews. (John 4:22)
This is true. So your people have a place in this story, as do I. We aren't really separate People as our world tells us. The Gospel of Jesus Christ tells us otherwise. If He hadn't died I would still be lost.
Happy Easter weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe story of Jesus Christ is the greatest story of mankind.
ReplyDeleteGreetings and blessings to you, dear Sandi!
