LOL. Poor goldfish. Limited horizons for sure. I know someone who puts different pictures against the tank for her goldfish, who notices and appreciates the change in scenery.
Oh my! I never gave much thought to the live of a goldfish in a tank! I'm sure he would much rather be in a pond, but then he is subject to predators, and so it is much safer for him to stay in the tank indoors, where he can be adored by safer viewers! Love the poem.
Do goldfish blink when water gets in their eyes? Why don't they wear goggles? And do they drink water when they yawn? What if they drink all the water in the pond? What then? Do they drown without water? What if a goldfish cannot swim; does he drown? I learnt swimming from a book. The pages kept getting wet!
So good to have a laugh even at the expense of a little goldfish. Yet I can not help but see a bit of a parallel to some that think they already rule the world.
For some reason, this made me sad. I feel sorry for so many animals, now I guess I must add the goldfish to them. And yes, I know, wild things don't feel sorry for themselves. But those in captivity...?
My first thought was poor goldfish, and then my mind quickly raced to the little thing always overeating. LOL. sounds like me! Perhaps his life is so full of happiness and as he looks out from his glass home, he feels pity for the world.

ReplyDeleteI hope his tank is very large, at least it is not in a cruel, round bowl. Fish are meant to swim long distances aren't they.
