Not This Day

Hold your ground, hold your ground!

Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day

An hour of wolves and shattered shields,
when the age of men comes crashing down!

But it is not this day!

This day we fight!

By all that you hold dear on this good Earth,
I bid you stand, men of the West!

Aragorn
Lord of the Rings

  1. One of my favourite 'rallying' speeches, reminiscent of Henry V.

  2. In the spirit of Aragorn and Ephesians 6:13, this WOman of the West. is determined to stand by the grace of God!

(By the way, I'm still chuckling over your comment to me to make dandelion tea. I guess I need some pointers. And THEN to develop a taste for it. I'm not a big fan of tea of any sort...)

    1. Some people make their own, but I just buy it. Haha! Making it requires roasting the roots or some such thing. It's a heavy tea, like coffee, not at all flowery. You might like it!

  3. Yeah, it made me think of Henry V too! Great speech!

  4. Hi Sandi! I didn't read Lord of the Rings, and I'm sure I'm the only one in the USA who hasn't. But this rallying cry sounds a lot like God in the Old Testament, speaking to His leaders. "This day we fight." I think that's every day for me!
    Happy Monday :)

    1. I think so too, Ceil!

I only read LOTR as an adult. I saw this first movie and didn't want to wait to see how it ended!

  5. I was thinking the same thing as Ceil, not having read LOTR. It does encourage me to remember and to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Thanks for the reminder. :) Have a great week!

  6. I can just hear him speaking those words. I've never read the books but know the movies by heart.
