Messiah

Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin. “What are we accomplishing?” they asked. “Here is this man performing many signs. If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.”

Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, “You know nothing at all! You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.”

He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one.

John 11:47-52

  8. He could have stopped it at any time. Yet He did this all for us, I cannot imagine the strength and pain.

  9. Cayaphas words may sound clever, but no one, not even the people of the Sanhedrin, has the right to expect someone to sacrifice himself for the whole community.

  10. He went through all of this for you and I, to save us from ourselves. He is our Savior. Amen

  11. Amen.

When I see the verse together with the title and the Star of David, the two triangles seem to speak of the Jewish Nation and the "Nations" together as one in Messiah Yeshua.
    Amen.
Glory to God in the Highest.

Blessings and a good week to you!

  14. Can you even begin to imagine leaving Heaven to come to earth knowing what He must face? What an incredible Saviour we serve!

  15. I'm sure that Caiaphas would be shocked to discover how he is remembered two thousand years later. In the gorgeous Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, Italy the story of Christ appearing before Caiaphas is in one of the frescos. I'm betting that you would enjoy seeing this chapel, Sandi, one of the most beautiful and inspiring places I've ever seen. It's filled with Giotto's frescos telling about the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.
