Friday Night Bread





I learned to make bread in 2020. Didn't everybody?

This one is Challah, a traditional loaf served on the Sabbath. 

Biblically, that's Friday night to Saturday night, 

though many people observe it on Sunday. 

If you celebrate a Sabbath, have a good one. 

If not, have a good one anyway!

  6. Hi Sandi, I used to make bread some time ago and did a lot of cooking, including cakes, puddings etc.- your loaf looks very nice. At the moment I am on a diet to lose weight (I have already lost one stone) so I have hidden all my chocolate bars and fattening foods. It is nice that you have put this post up for those who would make this bread.

  12. In Polish cuisine, we always eat challah for Christmas Eve dinner. It is slightly sweet and served with carp. I bake a cupcake in the morning of Christmas Eve.

  14. i've never made it. only recently gotten into using yeast type bread ...i would make cinnamon breads without yeast ...i will say it is very tough to understand or make sure they are just right. i guess that is what always made kind of nervous. u go to the trouble u wanna have good tasting bread or treats. i am still learning. if you have an easier recipe that you would share, please tell where 2 beginning? i am usually just researching online. my hubby had found, lost the first one and tried another ...it was made in my LeCruset pan and it was pretty good. i love learning but i am wondering how the folks who have done it for so many years are so good at it? my grandma Mary was a genius she would us bread as a young kid that was heavenly good. i think my mom has her recipe somewhere but never tried it personally. every year for Christmas i wanna try a recipe that works for me for the family and friends (sharing w/ them) but yet to find one that has really stuck with me, i am always trying something new. and it is fun but i would love something that i was great at. ( ;

  23. I learned to make Challah bread last year when I was asked to make two loaves for a gathering I was attending. A gathering of Christians and believing Jews. I sweated it a bit, the most difficult part being the braiding. But it was delicious! I am thinking this is a type of bread I would like to begin making more often... like weekly for our Sabbath.
