The ground was silent. The shaking had finally stopped. The only sound was flowers pushing up through the soil to bloom in the sunlight. They made a terrific noise, part praise and part ordinary days.
She stood in the dust. Every vice she had ever leaned on had fallen and turned to stone. She had to learn to stand without them.
"What now?" She asked Him.
"Now live."
In the distance a cathedral also stood. Every vice it had ever leaned on had fallen and turned to stone. It had to learn to stand without them.
"What is that?" She asked.
"A reminder," He answered.
"Many people thought this was the end, but it stands and you stand and I stand."

ReplyDeleteCathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow. Demolished by Stalin in 1931. Rebuilt in the 1990's when Communism fell.
DeleteStrength.. as long as God is the CornerStone our lives can be rebuilt as the church was.

DeleteThank you for your visit to my blog and your sweet words about my mother. I am not familiar with the church pictured on your post. I will look it up.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see that this beautiful cathedral was rebuilt. It's impossible to destroy something beautiful that will rise again.
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos it is good it was rebuilt
ReplyDeleteI pray that the cathedral continues to teach God's Word and the truth to the people in spite of the evil around them. Our world is trying hard to extinguish the flame of God's Word in our midst, but God's Word is an eternal flame that cannot be quenched by human arrows. Praise be to God!
ReplyDeleteYour church too, Pamela, and mine.

ReplyDeleteyes, as the invisible Church of GOD, we will never be destroyed but redeemed ... thank you for the uplifting post!
ReplyDeleteThrough the question of Ginny Hartzler I see now, what church this is.
ReplyDeleteYour post is like a symbol for the worldwide church. The evil wants to destroy God's word we hear and learn in the church.
Yes, the true Church will stand. Oh yes...Just as your photos illustrate but in spirit.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi, just wanted to let you know I am at a different location now.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless!
It’s as beautiful as before, maybe more!
ReplyDeleteFaith can be broken, but never destroyed.
ReplyDeleteSo good that it was rebuilt.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Hi Sandi. Lots of buildings, including old church buildings, get destroyed on earth. It is a good thing that God does not live in a house made with hands. The real church is the body of Christ on earth.
ReplyDeleteMany churches in Russia were torn down or used for other things during the time of Communism. When the USSR collapsed in 1991 things began to change. Russia has built many churches since then.
DeleteI do think there are a lot of believers in Russia, and also some beautiful buildings. We haven't visited Russia but we have been to many places near to it , Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, and others. I always wanted to go to Saint Petersburg, but we haven't been there.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to go and post pictures on your blog. I'd love to see them.
DeleteThanks, Brenda!
It might be a bit too late now Sandi, but all things are possible.
