I Did it Again

Tuesday 4

1.  If you had to flee this life and there was a posibility to actually live in a  place based on a story or book or movie, which would you choose and why?

Star Trek. I know it well, having spent so much time there. I am talking about the old Star Treks such as the original with William Shatner, Picard's ship, Deep Space Nine, Enterprise with Scott Bakula. I love Voyager. We watched these shows a lot when my kids were young (on Netflix mostly. They had long gone off the air before I had children.) Voyager was the one we watched whenever my husband traveled out of town. It was like a safe place, comforting, reassuring that there is always an answer, always a solution, (see below) always hope.

2.  What kind of story line do you just not like either in books or movies.

Doomsday scenarios with no hope. I don't accept it in fictional shows or the news. There is always hope.

3   How many of the Great Classics have you read and/or popular book series?

Not enough. Please make suggestions in the comments.

4.  There are reading playlists available for various genres of literature. Do you play any music while reading?

I play music while writing, but it is too distracting while reading.

  2. We loved Star Trek, both the first one, and the one after with Picard. I used to play music when I studied, but when I got older it really got too distracting.

  3. I used to listen to music when I read, but not anymore, seeing that distracts me . . . too.

Plus, I used to listen to music when I wrote, but no longer, seeing that also distracts me.

When I enjoy listening to music is when I am not doing much of anything or before I go to sleep, and while asleep, but not all the time.

My favorite music I enjoy listening to, is smooth jazz.

    God Bless you, my friend!

  6. I have the Christian music channel playing all day. Especially if something distressful is happening around us. The words, and praising God keeps me focused Heavenward. To be honest, these days, if I could escape anywhere, that is the place I would want to be. Good post! Enjoy the rest of your week.

  7. I enjoyed reading your answers. A space girl, interesting. :) I can't listen to music while reading, either. I have been listening to music while I'm visiting blogs, though. Do you like to read Science Fiction? In the world of classics my favorites are The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. I've enjoyed The Narnia Series by C.S. Lewis, too.

    1. I love all of those books too. :) Did you know CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien were friends?

  8. I like anything by Charles Dickens!
One of my favorite series is by Anne Perry - Thomas Pitt and Charlotte, mysteries set in Victorian England.

  11. Loved the old Star Trek, but not into the newer version of today.
Charles Dickens I enjoyed and have read a few times way back, enjoyed it immensely where some didn't care for it.

  12. I like your answers. I don't succeed in listening music while I'm writing or reading. In the past I listened music while running but now no more because I must pay attention to the cars,

  14. Did you know that Tom Paris (Voyager) is/was Nicholas Lucarno in Star Trek Next Generation? He was a cadet pilot who encouraged his team to do a dangerous flying manoeuvre and one of them died.

My books will one day become classics - if anyone reads them!

    God bless.

    1. They are classics now, Victor! 😊

P.S. They wanted to make the character on Voyager Nick Lucarno, but didn't want to have to pay royalties, so made him Tom Paris instead.

    2. Wow ... I did not know that about the royalties. You are a better expert than me. Many thanx, Sandi.

      God bless always.

  15. Hi Sandi, I think the only place I would want to be in is the place based in the Bible - Heaven
    God bless.

  16. Good answers. I listen to classical music when I read but not always. It creates a nice peaceful atmosphere. I read a lot and don't watch movies or tv. It wasn't always that way but it has been for the last fifteen years. The only place that I would like to be is in the forest in a small house surrounded by nature.

  17. Star Trek provides a view of the future that is by and large, even with challenges and conflicts, a positive one.

  18. Hi Sandi ~ Thanks for your comments on my blog. I somehow lost you on my sidebar, and wanted to come by and renew my visits. By the way, my dearest so appreciates your comments on his Reflection Blog. I've been encouraging him to start blogging again. We listen to Christian music all the time. Love the old Hymns, but a couple new songs we love too. One is "The Goodness of God" and one called "Evidence" Enjoyed your answers.

  20. Sandi - thank you for sharing your lovely answers. I used to watch Star Trek...like you the old series is what I prefer versus the new one. (Guess that shows my age. LOL)! Hugs!

  21. I believe it was last year, I read "A Tale of Two Cities" I had to read it when my house was quiet. The language was from the time of the French Revolution and the print was very small. But it was very interesting.

  22. There are times I like to listen to smooth jazz when I am working on something.

    God's grace to you, Sandi.
