Words of Simeon

Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,

"Lord,
now you are letting your servant depart in peace,
according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation
that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.”

Luke 2:29-32

  1. Oh Sandi, thank you for coming to visit my blog post, but thank you even more for this reminder that unless we see The Lord, we are not even prepared to say we are READY for the next step in our journey. Hallelujah, praise His name, that He has come to save us.

  3. I love the way that all names in the Bible have meanings according to what the person does. One of the meanings of the name Simeon is 'obedient'. He believed what the Holy Spirit had revealed to him and it came about. Believing is obedience.

  8. I love this passage of Scripture, Sandi, especially as Simeon not only acknowledges the Messiah of the Jews, but of the Gentiles, too. Beautiful!

  9. Would be so wonderful to see the Messiah face to face, but we will definitely see Him in the glory, probably sooner than any of us realize.
