Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4
Modern culture tells us to seek Me first. It means me, not He. It instructs us to follow after ourselves and serve no other.
But...
We were not made to function that way. Especially women who nurture naturally. In my experience, Me first will not make us happy.
What do you think?
Never - not in the long. I was taught - God First, others second, and myself last.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chatty! 😀
DeleteI completely agree. The bible is all about selflessness. Beautiful flower, is it a mum or zinnia.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like either to me, but I am not sure.
DeleteI agree, putting yourself first will never give you the joy of putting God first.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The verse about it's better to give than receive is very true. Acts 20:35
ReplyDeletefrom where i see we all are equally crucial for the successful existence of us and planet dear Sandy
ReplyDeleteall come first ,me is nothing if i do not act to benefit others or at least try to exist harmlessly as God commands
hugs and best wishes to you and family!
I agree!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%. Me first is so greedy..it never satisfies.
ReplyDeleteSue
It's the modern Me ... Me ... Me ... culture that has got the world in the state it's in. You can see it in the adverts where the focus is on self and greed.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Each of us is blessed with a unique soul identity to explore and develop with Gods help. There are no rules that fit everyone. There are heroic women in the bible! Love God and Love your neighbor as yourself. The whole of the law! Bless you Honey
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, Cloudia!
DeleteJesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
I am a heroic nurturer! 🤗
DeleteI agree too.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good verse with excellent advice.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi, I agree absolutely with Philippians ch. 2 vs. 3-4. Very strange how I have just come over to your blog and it is verifying what I have just written on mine. Your picture of the flower is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'll come right over!
DeleteThe ‘me me me’ culture will hopefully go away one day. The more we help others, the more we help ourselves in the long run, in that we become enlightened and blessed when looking at the needs of others, and not expecting anything in return. I hope this makes sense. I am not too good at explaining things these days.
ReplyDeleteIt does! You are very good at explaining it.
DeleteSome women don't have a clue...and some men have it...God only knows:)
