Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Civilla D. Martin, 1905
The feel of the poem is divine dear Sandi!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Baili! It's an old church song.

ReplyDeleteO yes, I'm a little sparrow and I sing for HIM.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good reminder! Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love that song!!! I had a dear sweet friend who used to remind me of that song with every little note she'd write me...she'd say, "remember, His eye is on the sparrow!". She is now in heaven after years of battling several different health issues, but always with a cheerful attitude. Thank you for sharing that today. Brought back sweet memories of a precious friend who I look forward to seeing again one day.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandi. Is this for me?! I receive it!! 💕🎶
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteHi Sandi, I have never heard of this song before, it is beautiful and shows us how God watches over us, and now His Word is our comfort in all times. God bless you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt must be more common here in America. It's an oldie, but very well known.
DeleteMatthew 10:31
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
