Holy Moly indeed! Wonderfully illustrates religion as a uniquely human experience. No other creature, at least here on Earth, experiences religion like a human being. It’s 100% what a person believes. And how do we come to what we believe … What we are told, what we are taught, and what we experience.
Thank you, Sandi, for the thoughtful reply. I believe the world **is** a part of the Universe. I believe Jesus **is** a part of the Universe. So, I’m still working on how to bring it all together for my experience. Fortunately, as they say, it isn’t over ‘till it’s over. π
Thank you again, Sandi. I believe: When it comes to this realm, every human being will have to decide for themselves what they BELIEVE. We cannot KNOW we can only BELIEVE and that is why it is called FAITH. Stepping back, for a moment, you asked me earlier if I grew up in the church, and, as I replied, yes, I did. It took many years of life for me to be able to look back on all I was told and taught by ministers, pastors, and teachers. All of them were kind, well-meaning, well-intentioned humans. I finally realized they were simply passing along what THEY believed. What a moment of joy and spiritual freedom it was when I finally realized it was up to me to decide what I believe. Freedom at last! May God bless you Sandi.
The word "know" brought me back to this. I know Him. I know Jesus. Do you know what that's like? I keep using the word know, though you make a good point about faith and belief. But you can know Jesus like I know you or you know me, or more specifically like someone in our everyday lives. This thought just stuck with me so I thought I would come back and leave it here. π Blessings.
Thank you for the additional thoughts. I do KNOW what you mean. π I recently heard a well-respected spiritual teacher say that one of the issues we humans must deal with in relation to discussing spirituality is “language.” After I heard that, the more I thought about it, the more it seems true. Now, let’s go to Scripture: John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever BELIEVES in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Blessings back to you Sandi!
what a wonderful experience for this man, the experience is different for everyone as you know. my introduction to spiritually was explained as an introduction to religion, i know now they are two different things. this was interesting to me...

That was my experience.
